Congratulations to all of you for your oral presentations of the biographical poems. I am so proud of you and your writing was great. In this space you can post your poems.
I'm Martin Luther King, I was born in Atlanta, I am a black person, But I don’t like the life of such color, Because we are not treated like queens and kings.
I don’t like violence, And much less racism. I daily hear people discriminate against others, And this is not right, Because if they were perfect, They would not be here.
Since young I thought of this, I decided I want to defend civil rights, I don’t like the way they mistreat, And this is not right, Abuse is not fair, And we have to throw it down the stairs.
Life is not pink, But we see it as gray. There are different ways, As for assuming the worst. Despite the problems that make us unequal, The world without us will not be equal.
I have always been inspired, By the figure of Mahatma Gandhi, That despite not being smart in school, He was an advocator of nonviolence in times of war, And he never got tired.
My fame was like a tsunami, It spread rapidly throughout the world, But I never thought that the smell of my name, Came so fast like my fame. I always thought of others, Just as God does.
A highlight of my struggles, No doubt it was the tornado in Washington. In that ruling the importance of peace, Also of equality for all.
My most important speech I called, I have a dream. One of my dreams is, A world in which everyone are equal. When I said these words, Everyone was happy with me, And I felt many butterflies inside me, Dancing and partying inside me.
I knew what I did, And the problem that I got, Never I forgot, But still I kept fighting like a bull, Until my last days.
I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, But only know, That I will follow my dreams, Though my heart screams, Because I have a dream.

Poem: My pain, my great truth by Debbie J. Miranda Valentín Speaker: Frida Kahlo
My pain, my great truth
I'm just a girl That was beginning to live I desired to travel the world Like a bird with liberty
Here begins my story Full of Unhappiness I don’t want to cause sadness But the pain is so intense That I can no longer breathe This disease takes over my body And I think polio will kill me.
I have a rebellious nature And with strength I’m going to fight I won’t let scary things stop me And like a lion I’m going to fight
Now I am eighteen years old And I should be very happy But a terrible accident Changed all my reality My spine is fractured And other parts of my body are affected
Now my pain is even greater When I hear that I can’t be a mom I feel like my world is crumbling And my paintings are reflecting All that pain I have inside
I don’t paint dreams nor nightmares Just paint my own reality I'm like that big and strong tree Though motionless it doesn’t stay far behind It fights against strong winds And is still standing
So much loneliness makes me sad And I refuge in my own truth The suffering is the meal of every day And I can’t smell the happiness That's why I tried to kill myself But I can’t reach my goal So I share with you A sad and difficult dinner to swallow
I feel my life shutting down And the stars smiling are Because I'm going to be one of them And with the Lord I will rest.

Mariana Bracetti Cuevas, I am. Wife of my revolutionary leader, I am. Mother of four precious child, I am. Of the revolution, rebel daughter, I am.
Memorable legends I consider, each person who risked his life with me to defend our beloved country from the white hands of greed.
The injustice and sublimation evokes in me a motivation to gave a strong voice of revolution, to make “El Grito Lares” happen.
As a free bird with his wings I extend my wish to new horizons, every sunshine achieve, looking always to a sensational future that give a great hope above the earth.
With my “Golden Arm” I embroider the revolutionary and significant flag of Lares. Redemption, rebellion, freedom and liberty we remembered to the eternity.
The Fight for Justice Sonia Sotomayor is my name. I’m here to clear the injustice From this world of darkness Hear my shout crime! I will defeat you with my justice.
Born in the famous Big Apple Also called New York City. With so much trouble in it Following my dreams, is the key to success.
Latin blood runs in my veins Like fire that spreads all the way. The force within me Cannot be contained.
The world that surrounds me, Hates me because I’m different from them
Oh glorious Lord Jesus, help me be strong, I’m just a nine year old girl To be left alone With my mother and brother
Poorness surrounded us for many years, But that didn’t stop my mother to fight for a bright future.
One night, I saw TV show “Perry Mason” That night I decided, I wanted to become a judge.
Seasons come and go But hope doesn’t fade away. To win a fight, We must give it our all.
To defend the innocent And prove what is right, Because justice is not a lie.
I dream on the day, When I’m allowed here, Where justice will be the ruler of us.
Every day I hear many tortured souls. Screaming for help, That’s a call I must resolve.
I know that I’m not perfect In many ways, I had problems that’s cannot be changed, but the world has made me change and now I know, that the world can stab you from behind.
Gently my job as a judge has touched the world slowly, The darkness that was upon us, has vanished, My work as a judge has completed. My life has been like a battle ship, In a constant fight for survival, Fighting for what is right.
Ding, dong, ding, dong, my life has rang, Nominated by the best couldn’t be more proud, Thank you God for giving me the best. Now I can close one more page in my life, Its someone else’s turn to play, I’m old and tired, Let’s give the young a role to play.

My pain, my great truth
I'm just a girl

Here begins my story
Full of Unhappiness
I don’t want to cause sadness
But the pain is so intense
That I can no longer breathe
This disease takes over my body
And I think polio will kill me.
I have a rebellious nature
And with strength I’m going to fight
I won’t let scary things stop me
And like a lion I’m going to fight
Now I am eighteen years old
And I should be very happy
But a terrible accident
Changed all my reality
My spine is fractured
And other parts of my body are affected
Now my pain is even greater
When I hear that I can’t be a mom
I feel like my world is crumbling
And my paintings are reflecting
All that pain I have inside
I don’t paint dreams nor nightmares
Just paint my own reality
I'm like that big and strong tree
Though motionless it doesn’t stay far behind
It fights against strong winds
And is still standing
So much loneliness makes me sad
And I refuge in my own truth
The suffering is the meal of every day
And I can’t smell the happiness
That's why I tried to kill myself
But I can’t reach my goal
So I share with you
A sad and difficult dinner to swallow
I feel my life shutting down
And the stars smiling are
Because I'm going to be one of them
And with the Lord I will rest.

I wanted to safe my birth of place
I wanted its freedom, patriotic I am!
Many years past and I was falling apart
on July 6, 1953, God took my life
with only 39 years the angels took me in
I was never happy in life but now I know I will.

The star that rise and that will never fall
ReplyDeleteFirst Latin American Player in the Major league
Puerto Rican National
Son of Doña Luisa and Melchor Clemente
From Carolina Puerto Rico I was a resident,
And my name is Roberto Clemente.
I felt passionate about baseball,
Enchanted fans with my powerful thrown arms
And superb hitting impressing all.
Ask me how you should pitch me, and my answer to all
“Pitch me inside and you will not find answer to all”
During my first home run,
Batting the ball my bat broke
And like a little baby my heart exploded like a bomb.
Emotions raised within me,
I was going fulfill one my goals.
And with the support of the wind
I achieved my first homerun.
With Pittsburg Pirates I spent my 18 year baseball career
Won the National League,
Batting Championship, with no fear.
Oh Nicaragua, what a disaster!
My plane crashes into the ocean and went down faster.
When I flew up from the world on December 31, 1972
I know it forced tears
Out all over the world and for many years.
But as we all know
The stars keep shining when they are for real
I’m on the sky for you and hope you can heal.

THE NAVIGATOR WHO DISCOVERED AMERICA
ReplyDeleteMe, Christopher Columbus, an Italian explorer
I was very brilliant and brave than others.
I wanted to sail across the ocean,
to find a route to India, without time notion.
The king refused to give me ships,
I tried going to other kings.
In France in England and around the place,
they would not give me the ships to sail.
Then I went to the king and queen of Spain,
to ask them for money to travel without pain.
King Fernando and Queen Isabella
gave me three ships, a crew and an umbrella.
My crew was afraid of unknown seas.
They believed monsters live in waters like fun fleas.
Some thought the world was flat and plane,
but I thought the world was round like a brain.
After sailing and sailing on the ocean blue,
I saw land with my binocular on the outside view.
Who scream to my eyes “I’m a new world”
I was so amazed that I didn't say a word.
I was clapping of happiness of the land that I discovered,
that I wanted to sail with no map over and over.
A few years later, when I was old,
I began suffering arthritis even in my bones.
My hair was as white as snow ,
and my face was a tired raisin in a bowl.
In may of 1506, I die and leave all the seas,
Because of my disease and my fatigue.

ReplyDeleteI am the biggest salsa singer, Frankie Ruiz
Puerto Rico my fatherland is
With the name of Jose Antonio Ruiz
And Known by people by Frankie Ruiz
Of Puerto Rican I descend I am salsa singer
I traveled to Puerto Rico in search of my desire
Thirteen years I had when starting my day
And Mayaguez I achieved my way
I arrived to salsa groups the Dictator and Modern Vibration
Lunching my new album ¨Frankie Ruiz and the Solution¨
Bringing smile from ear to ear
The crowd free from their fears
Forty years full of sacrifice
Rewarded with the applauses of my admires
Watching my dreams become reality
Wishing to continue into eternity
Dying in New York
By alcohol and drugs
I was early addicted
Taken to be buried success achieved
The people cried ocean when they thought of my achievements
While my career was empty as incompleteness
When time arrived I was a lyric sage
My legacy ended at an early stage
As I was swept away by angels at an early stage.

Breaking Baseball Line Color

The best second baseman they call me back then
From the high hills of Georgia born
Just to make a few home runs
Had a few highlight on my career
Just to be the rookie of the year
I basically started the
Afro-American or Negro league
With all my member and
Family in mountain creek
Broke all the baseball line color

That it went to the space
And it will be flying for ever

Play Hard To Be A Legend
ReplyDeleteMichael Jordan is my name,
My clothes are sold world wide,
I made people believe they could fly,
I put on a show in every game,
I climbed the charts to fame,
I am a hero in the world’s,
Watch me play and you´ll get a big surprise,
I wear number 23 on my jersey,
I show my opponents no mercy,
I dribble quickly, up to half court,
A shot from this distance, would be definitely short.
I pass to my shooter, alone on my right.
Who releases the ball, and I stares at its flight.
Finally, the ball enters the net.
I feel the emotions, as I stand there with sweat.
It was a beautiful finish, to a memorable year,
This journey of mine, I´ll forever hold dear.
I could almost touch heaven,
I am a living legend.

I defeated the battle
ReplyDeleteI was born on May 18,1971
Adamaris Lopez was the name I received when I came to Earth
From that day my life went on
I began acting at the age of six
I started acting on the soap opera
"Cristina Bazan"
I believed this was very fun
"Yo se que mentí" was my second experience
There I made an expectacular apperance
I went to Mexico to do my thing
Where I had the chance to participate
In "Señora tentación", "Sin tí","Camila" and others
People saw what good acting I could bring
I am a very good and beautiful actress
I am a woman of low height and white skin
Blue eyes like the ocean
But I think not only my physical appearance makes me unique
But also my kindness and the great fighter I am
When I got older sadly became sick
Breast cancer was my enemy
I defeated it with the help of my family
I came back to stay
That’s lights up my days
To do what I do best on the stage
I was in several stages but this time
I had the pleasure of being on a stage
where my body moved like ocean waves
To show elegance sometimes soft and sometimes hard
On the stage "Mira quien baila" I had obstacles
But I reach the goal of victory
Where the cameras were witnesses of my big achievement
The applause of the audience were heard in all the world

from the white hands of greed.

evokes in me a motivation
to gave a strong voice of revolution,
to make “El Grito Lares” happen.
As a free bird with his wings I extend my wish
to new horizons, every sunshine achieve,
looking always to a sensational future
that give a great hope above the earth.
With my “Golden Arm” I embroider

The Fight for Justice
ReplyDeleteSonia Sotomayor is my name.
I’m here to clear the injustice
From this world of darkness
Hear my shout crime!
I will defeat you with my justice.
Born in the famous Big Apple
Also called New York City.
With so much trouble in it
Following my dreams, is the key to success.
Latin blood runs in my veins
Like fire that spreads all the way.
The force within me
Cannot be contained.
The world that surrounds me,
Hates me because I’m different from them
Oh glorious Lord Jesus,
help me be strong,
I’m just a nine year old girl
To be left alone
With my mother and brother
Poorness surrounded us for many years,
But that didn’t stop my mother to fight for a bright future.
One night, I saw TV show
“Perry Mason”
That night I decided,
I wanted to become a judge.
Seasons come and go
But hope doesn’t fade away.
To win a fight,
We must give it our all.
To defend the innocent
And prove what is right,
Because justice is not a lie.
I dream on the day,
When I’m allowed here, Where justice will be the ruler of us.
Every day I hear many tortured souls.
Screaming for help,
That’s a call I must resolve.
I know that I’m not perfect
In many ways,
I had problems that’s cannot be changed, but the world has made me change and now I know, that the world can stab you from behind.
Gently my job as a judge has touched the world slowly,
The darkness that was upon us, has vanished, My work as a judge has completed.
My life has been like a battle ship,
In a constant fight for survival,
Fighting for what is right.
Ding, dong, ding, dong, my life has rang, Nominated by the best couldn’t be more proud, Thank you God for giving me the best.
Now I can close one more page in my life,
Its someone else’s turn to play,
I’m old and tired,
Let’s give the young a role to play.
Forever known as the:
“First Latin woman in the Supreme court of the United Stated of America”.
